About me and what I'm looking for

Seeking playful, sweet-natured independent woman for conversation, cocktails and wrestling . . . I am an ex-Marine and publishing poet working in the semiconductor industry . . . I'm often mistaken for a twentysomething, yet am easily flushed out when pressed for 80's trivia (the answer is 'parachute pants!') . . . Quiet evenings at home can be just as fun as nights on the town . . . I love, love, love to laugh . . . Have little patience for falseness in people or relationships . . . Prefer cats over dogs, but love all animals equally (owners do not easily impress) . . . I moved to Austin five years ago after a decade skipping around the globe and fell fast in love with Central Texas - bought a home (Southside!) and plan to stick it out with my fellow expatriates . . . An ideal companion would be equally at ease delighting in her femininity as hanging with the boys, is comfortable in her skin yet modest with strangers, can laugh at her own folly and that of others . . . I relate well to women who, on the surface, appear a mix of contradictions, are unconventional in surprising ways, not easily disclosed or stereotyped . . . I'm open to casual acquaintances and new friends but am also a sensitive soul and believe life is far richer when shared with a special someone.

IN MY OWN WORDS...

for fun:
Finding humor in all things.  Good conversation.  Discovering the weird side of Austin.  Being outdoors.  Practicing Ashtanga yoga.  Home repair projects.  Playing golf or guitar.  Writing poetry.  Good food / books / movies / performances . . . Want to learn to dance!

my job:
Information Technology.  I work for a successful, Austin-based company who design semiconductors for portable music players (your iPod, for instance).

my ethnicity:
Honky...

my religion:
Unafraid of the unknown.

my education:
"I never let my schooling interfere with my education" ~ Mark Twain . . . Studied English Creative Writing (don't spell check me!) and Philosophy.

favorite hotspots:
Unless I'm out to watch a ball game, the fewer televisions the better; restaurants all shapes, sizes, cuisines (love to eat out!); Bookpeople, Whole Foods, Cafe Mundi, Barton Springs, Austin Java, Lake Travis, Mother Egan's Irish Pub, South Congress, Warehouse District...

favorite things:
My house, friends, happy hour, pistachios, bucking the trend, witnessing random kindness, new clothes, new discoveries, healthy debate, spicy food, a warm bed, a good fire, kisses, laughing outloud, helping others succeed, sharing love / joy / friendship / etc...

last read:
'Last Night of the Earth Poems' by Charles Bukowski (again) . . . 'The Wall Street Journal Weekend Edition' . . . 'Cosmo' and 'Glamour', of course ;)
